Wilcox Selected No. 28 In NBA Draft
ESPN basketball analyst Jay Bilas said this about C.J. Wilcox: "He's a shooter. He's got a really high release point on that shot, difficult for people to block it and he gets it off really quickly. He's very good at catch-and-shoot situations. He's also a good defender. He rebounds well. He's made 301 threes in his career, which is sixth all-time in the Pac-12…really good offensive player. His Dad played at BYU, he's had a good career at Washington, he's gotten better every year.
"Defensively he's a good athlete and does a good athlete as a one-on-one defender, gets to the glass and is a pretty good guard rebounder. When he's at the free throw line he makes nearly 90 percent of his free throws.
"One of the best shooters in the draft, and you mentioned it Reese (Davis) - specialist. And Tom Penn mentioned it earlier - this is the point in the draft when you draft specialists. And this guy can really shoot it."
Wilcox follows three other Pac-12 players selected in the first round. Arizona's Aaron Gordon went to Orlando at No. 4; Minnesota selected UCLA's Zach LaVine (from Bothell) at No. 13, and Memphis picked another UCLA player, Jordan Adams, at No. 22. Stanford forward Josh Huestis went right after Wilcox to Oklahoma City at No. 29. and a third Bruin - Kyle Anderson - went to the San Antonio Spurs to end the first round of the draft.
