By the third week of the season against BSU, Mike moved into the starting field goal role as a redshirt freshman. Under intense pressure, he ended the year hitting 62.5% of his field goals, with a long of 43 yards and accounting for 35 points on the year (#3 on the team for 2003). He was perfect in the last 3 games of the year, hitting a 34 yarder against Arkansas State, a 43 yarder against UL-Monroe, and hit from 35 and 19 yards against USU. Mike was also perfect on PATs for the season.
2002 - Idaho:
Signed with Idaho in February and redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL
Mike was one of several highly anticipated recruits in the 2002 class. A highly touted kicker out of St. Bonaventure High School, Mike was named to the All-West Coast Team by PrepStar, had 70% of his kick-offs land in the endzone, and he holds the Ventura County record for career points (181). As a junior he was 12-16 on field goal attempts, with a long of 42 yards. Not bad for a highschooler.
