Josh had another solid season before right-shoulder surgery sidelined him for the rest of the season in December. He had longs of 54, 62, and 53 during the season. Against Oakland in September he punted 6 times for 276 yards, with one inside the 20. That same month in Cleveland he had another fine game, marred by a block that led to a TD for the Browns, with the 62-yarder and another inside the 20. Cincinatti in November - he finished the game with a net average of 38 and two inside the 20. He nailed 3 inside the 20 against Carolina in December. Much of the season, Josh was probably playing with some pain in his shoulder. It's much hoped that Josh will be recovered from the surgery for 2003.

Josh Miller signed on with the Steelers as a free agent in 1996. Previously, in 1994 and 1995, Josh was a punter in the CFL, leading that league in punting in each of those two seasons.

In his 1997 season it became obvious that Josh was a solid punter with his strong leg and knack for nailing punts withing the 20-yard line. He has consistently finished his seasons among the top punters in the league. The Steelers have him signed through 2006.

In college, he was named first-team PAC 10 and first-team All-America in 1993 at Arizona and was a two-time All-Western State Football League pick as punter and kicker at Scottsdale Community. Miller is a native of East Brunswick, New Jersey.
