| Biography: |
| Akbar was a junior entry who played in six games for the New England Patriots during his rookie campaign in 2001. He will play the 2002 season with the Houston Texans. He would have been one of the premier defenders in the 2002 draft. Led the Washington Huskies in tackles two years ago with 97 and added six passes defensed, two interceptions and five tackles for loss. Recorded 69 tackles, six passes defensed, one interception and three tackles for loss as a sophomore. Shows solid all-around ball-skills and makes a lot of plays on the ball. Generally takes good position in coverage and shows good zone awareness. Akbar is a very instinctive safety who has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Can be a force playing close to the line of scrimmage. Shows the ability to maintain speed in transition. Has an above average break on the football. Akbar is a tall, solidly-built player who has the run-stuffing ability of a strong safety and the range of a free safety. |
