his sophomore campaign. Senior totals were 75/5/11 after 53/4/8 the
prior year.
Pos:
Opportunistic free safety who flashes brilliance. Displays good
awareness facing the action, is fast to the flanks in coverage and
gets vertical to defend the pass. Displays sideline-to-sideline range,
diagnoses the action and has a nice move to the throw. Can be a
hard-hitting force who intimidates ball carriers.
Neg:
Not efficient, takes poor angles to the action and is not a
sure-handed tackler.
Occasionally blows coverage assignments in centerfield. 2006: Piscitelli (pronounced PIS-kuh-TELL-ee) is one of the
premier safeties in the conference...the quarterback of the defensive backfield...also
has seen spot action at cornerback...a knack for being around the ball and making
a big play... played in 36 consecutive games and has made 23 straight starts...one
of the fastest players on the team and a generally underrated player...tied
for 10th at OSU for career interceptions with 10, which also represents the
most by any active player in the Pac-10...enters the year with 113 tackles and
17 pass breakups...returned a Matt Moore pass 41 yards for a TD in the spring
game...2006 Nagurski Watch List member.
2005: Piscitelli earned Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors for
the second straight year...third on the team for tackles with 53 and led the
team for interceptions with four...had a career-high eight tackles against Washington
State in a game that he returned an interception 23 yards for the game-tying
score...also recovered an Al Afalava forced fumble on WSU receiver Michael Bumpus
that led to the go-ahead score...his interception against California with 8:35
left in the contest set up the winning score in the upset of the No. 18 Bears...also
had eight tackles at Cal.
2004: Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference...started all
12 games at strong safety...tied for second on the team for interceptions with
five and was a key figure in OSU tying for fourth in the nation for team interceptions
with 19...had one interception in each of the first three games and at the time
led the Pac-10 and was tied for second in the NCAA...later intercepted passes
against Arizona and Oregon...his interceptions against Boise State and Oregon
led to Beaver touchdowns...made 54 tackles, sixth on the team...had a season-high
seven tackles at Boise State and vs. USC...also made eight pass breakups, had
one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
2003: Piscitelli played all 13 games and was a key member
on special teams...made six tackles for the season, including two against Washington
State...intercepted one pass against New Mexico in the Las Vegas Bowl.
