| Biography: |
| Lofa Tatupu was the man in the middle for USC in 2003. He started all but one game for the Trojans at middle linebacker and was the team’s leading tackler with 98. Tatupu seemed at home in the middle of the field and patrolled it like a cop on a highway. Opposing receivers constantly had to have their heads on a swivel for fear of getting popped by #58 as he flew around the field with abandon. Amazing games against Auburn, Oregon State and Michigan helped propel him to the 2003 All Pac-10 Honorable Mention team. At Auburn, Tatupu registered 12 tackles including two sacks as he paced the Trojan defense in a dominating shutout. In the Oregon State game he broke out with 14 tackles and two interceptions. And if that wasn’t enough, he also forced a fumble. In the Rose Bowl against Michigan, the season’s biggest game, he finished with 12 tackles and had a momentum swinging interception, which the Trojan offense capitalized on for a touchdown. Tatupu’s dominance will be on display yet again in 2004 as he returns to his middle linebacker position and anchors what promises to be a premier Trojan defense. |
