| Played his first three years of high school ball at Kamiakin High in Kennewick, Wash., before relocating to Kalispell, Mont., where he fired for a Flathead High School record 2,280 yards. Had 22 touchdown passes and just five interceptions and earned honorable mention Montana Class AA All-State recognition. Originally signed with NAIA Montana Tech, but walked on at WSU instead. Redshirted the 2003 season.
