Steve Sarkisian admitted Monday that if he had a choice, he'd rather be playing football this weekend, especially in light of Washington's 48-21 loss to OSU this past weekend. But they have a bye week, and his coaches will do what they can to get their team prepared to play an Apple Cup with nothing on the line but pride. According to Sarkisian, that should provide more than enough motivation. Full Story

What's the cliche? The more things change the more they stay the same. This time last year the Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars were playing to decide who was the worst team in the Pac-10. Now, even after significant changes in both programs, they are again approaching the Apple Cup in the exact same positions in the conference. Full Story

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 27-point loss, the worst ever for the Washington Huskies on the road to Oregon State, could have been even uglier. With the game already out of hand, the Huskies scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to save a little face, but not much. The only statistics Washington measured up to were punts and kickoff returns. Not in terms of how well they did, just how many. Full Story

THE OREGON STATE defense blasted the UW for much of the first half in Saturday's season finale at Reser. Sacks, tackles for loss, takeaways -- the OSU stop corps was busy indeed. The Beaver offense was only slightly less sharp. Midway through the second quarter, OSU had already scored two touchdowns and two field goals for a 20-0 lead in what turned out to be a 48-21 romp that wasn't that close. Full Story

Washington headed into their game with Oregon State this week with a slight chance at getting bowl-eligible should they win their last three games. However, those dreams were shot down early in a 48-21 rout by the Beavers who ran up 379 yards of offense and got big days from quarterback Sean Canfield as well as the Rodgers brothers.

God bless Mike Riley. For the 21 years before Riley's introduction as Oregon State's head coach - which coincides with the tenure of the four head coaches before him - the Beavers were 44-173. That makes UW's last 21 years' record of 140-108, even with the stench of the last few years included, look almost impressive. For decades, Corvallis was college football's version of a black hole. That one really hurt. I know the loss to UCLA really hurt the team and coaches because I watched their reactions closely as it was ending. They had played tough, hard football only to lose again. It was tremendously disappointing and that was obvious, but it’s just as bad for us fans. We suffer right along with them. Full Story
