SEATTLE - Byron Davenport's hamstring just wouldn't hold up, so true freshman Vonzell McDowell started at cornerback for the Washington Huskies' first game of 2007 against Syracuse. Nine defensive backs return for 2008 with game experience, so it's unlikely new defensive coordinator Ed Donatell will have youth as a ready excuse for his secondary this spring.
