Scout.com > Washington UW 7, #16 Stanford 4 Story URL: http://washington.scout.com/2/757392.html PERRY HUANG Dawgman.com May 26, 2008 SEATTLE - Joey Dunn had a memorable final home game as a Husky, going 3 for 5 with a home run to help Washington celebrate Senior Day with a 7-4 win over 16th ranked Stanford in the season finale at Husky Ballpark on a sunny Sunday afternoon. With the win the Huskies completed the season with an 11-13 Pac-10 record and 33-22 overall mark. Dunn singled in his first two at-bats and his two run home run in the bottom of the sixth led to a big six run inning that erased a 4-0 deficit. With Ty Rasmussen on base with a single and two outs, Dunn hit an apparent inning ending pop up but Cardinal second baseman Cord Phelps dropped the ball for an error, giving Dunn another chance to swing the bat and he promptly lined the next pitch from Jeffrey Inman into the left field bullpen for his fifth long ball of the season. Then David Bentrott and Michael Burgher walked and Stanford went to the bullpen, bringing in left hander Blake Hancock to pitch to the left handed hitting Andy Lentz. Lentz greeted Hancock with a line double down the right field line on a 1-0 pitch to score Bentrott and make it 4-3. Bradley Boyer followed with a line single to left to score Burgher and Lentz and give the Huskies a 5-4 lead. Aaron Russell singled and Kyle Conley lined a single to left to score Boyer and put the Huskies on top 6-4. Washington made it 7-4 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. Bentrott singled and stole second. Burgher then beat out an infield single, but instead of stopping at third, Bentrott raced home with a big insurance run. Cam Nobles (6-4) benefited from the Huskies' offensive outburst to get the win. He pitched four stellar innings, allowing only a hit and a walk while striking out six. Left handed ace Nick Haughian started on the mound for Washington but did not factor into the decision. He went five plus innings, allowing four runs, all earned, on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Stanford got to Haughian for two runs in the top of the fourth on a two run single by Sean Ratliff and added two more in the sixth on a two run opposite field homer to right center by Toby Gerhart. In addition to Dunn, Burgher and Lentz started their final games in a Husky uniform. Burgher went 1 for 3 with a walk, run scored and run batted in while Lentz finished 2 for 3 with two walks, a run scored and an RBI.
