Huskies to face Marquette

The results are in and the Washington Huskies (24-9, 11-7) earned an 11 seed in the East (Syracuse) Region. They will face off with the Marquette Golden Eagles (22-11, 11-7) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will take place on Thursday in San Jose, Calif.
Marquette
is led by
Lazar Hayward
(18 ppg, 7.7 rpg),
Jimmy Butler
(14.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg)and
Darius Johnson-Odom
(12.8 pp.). They average 72.9 points per game and give up an average of 64.2 points per game.
Hayward was a teammate of Washington's
Quincy Pondexter
on the USA Basketball World University Games team that played this past summer in Belgrade, Serbia and won a Bronze Medal.
Their big wins this season have come against
Michigan
,
Xavier
,
Georgetown
,
Connecticut
and
Villanova
, while their only bad loss was to
DePaul
. They finished fifth in the Big East.
If the Huskies win this game, they will face the winner of No. 3
New Mexico
and No. 4 Montana. The game will be played in San Jose on Saturday.
California
was the only other Pac-10 team to make the tournament. They have an eight seed in the South Region and will play against
Louisville
Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.
