"I like the environment there and the coaches are great," said Jamaal Jones about Washington, his…
Jones enjoys day at Montlake
"Kasen and I were the only two receivers there so, I got to talk to him and got to know him a little bit and I had some other friends there like Zach Banner from Lakes. He and I play (AAU) basketball together so he and I got to hang out a little bit too."
Jones got to watch Washington's basketball team throttle Washington State at Hec Ed and he said he also got a tour of the school and the facilities.
"The game was really good," Jones noted. "(The football coaches) talked to us about things and what they were looking for and how they were building the program.
"More than anything it was just to get to know them a little better and to see the school in a little different way."
Besides the offer and heavy interest from the Huskies, Jones also has an offer from Washington State and is getting heavy interest from Oregon, Boise State and California.
"All of them, especially Oregon, have told me that once they can meet me and sit down with me that they will offer so I should see some more come in during the spring," Jones said.
This past season, Jones used his 4.43 speed and outstanding size so post 40 receptions for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Eagles to the playoffs with a 6-5 record.
The talented wideout admits to not focusing on his receiving as hard as he should have previously, but said he plans to get started a lot earlier this year.
"Before, I would just start catching balls about a month before camp started, but now I'm already doing that and I'm going to keep doing it," Jones said. "My goal is for us to have a great season next year and I personally want to have a big season so it's all about preparation for me."
Jones said he doesn't plan to make a hasty decision, but that doesn't necessarily mean he won't be deciding before the start of his senior season.
"I'd like to go through the whole process, but it all depends," Jones said. "If I feel completely comfortable with my decision and the school I want to go to, I could decided this spring or this summer.
"I'm really not on a timeline right now."
We'll continue to check in with Jones as he goes through the recruiting process and we will update news as it happens.
