Jon Brockman was selected by the Portland Trailblazers with their 38th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, held in New York City Thursday night. The pick was subsequently traded to the Sacramento Kings in a trade that also included Trailblazers guard Sergio Rodriguez. The Trailblazers moved up to the 31st pick, taking Arizona State center Jeff Pendergraph.

By going to the Kings, he'll be reunited with another Husky, Spencer Hawes, who was taken 10th overall by Sacramento in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Brockman's draft status was shrouded in mystery ever since his standout performance at the Portsmouth (Va.) Intivational Tournament in mid-April.

Brockman did not attend the pre-draft workout in Chicago, nor did he really work out in front of any teams, leading to speculation that he had a handshake deal in place with a team early on.

Brockman completed his Washington career with 1,805 points (13.8 points per game) and 1,283 rebounds (9.8 rebounds per game), making him the No. 2 scorer and No. 1 rebounder for the Huskies all-time. He was also the first Husky ever and fourth in Pac-10 history to surpass 1,800 career points and 1,200 rebounds. He also finished his career with 60 double-doubles, the leader among active players in 2009. Brockman was the first player to ever lead Washington in rebounding four straight seasons and the third-ever (Lew Alcindor, Bill Walton) to lead the Pac-10 for three straight seasons.
