Garcia offered invite to mini-camp spoke Monday with former Washington center Juan Garcia, who updated us on his status as a free agent who is trying to catch on with an NFL team in the hopes of playing professional football.

"I just spoke with Minnesota, and they want to bring me in for their rookie mini-camp this weekend," Garcia said just moments ago. "If I do well there, they told me that they would have a (free agent) contract for me on Monday."

Garcia added that he was also being pursued by the New York Jets, but ultimately Juan and his agent, Mike Abadir, felt the Vikings showed the most promise. Minnesota drafted one offensive lineman, Phil Loadholt from Oklahoma, and agreed to terms with Sooner center Jon Cooper, a free agent.

"I guess I was high on their (draft) board, but they were concerned about my injuries, so they want to bring me out and see what I can do," Garcia said.

Garcia is currently in Seattle, getting some personal things together before heading out to Minnesota Thursday night. We'll have more from Juan next week to find out the results of his mini-camp experience.
