Sacramento (Calif.) Grant linebacker Jordan Wallace is hopeful his stellar senior year, which…
Wallace will continue Husky-legacy
Jordan's older brother C.J. was an All-Conference player for the Huskies and currently is a safety with the Seattle Seahawks.
"His brother had success there and he has the opportunity to play in the Pac 10," Alberghini said. "We're excited for Jordan because it gives him a great opportunity to get a great education and play Division one football."
Wallace had an outstanding senior season leading Grant to a 14-0 record and beating Long Beach Poly in the State Championship game.
Wallace was instrumental in helping the Pacers win the title, leading a defense that allowed only 157 points all season while wracking up 125 tackles and three sacks from his "rover" position.
"I think what happened with him was he missed about five games with a thigh bruise during his junior year so he wasn't on the radar a lot," Alberghini noted. "He came out this year as a guy to watch for and he had a great year, but this year is tough because of the changes in the academic requirements and I think a lot of schools went out to get guys they knew were going to be qualifiers earlier and some guys got lost in the shadows and Jordan was one of those guys.
"I think he's a great catch and like I said I think he will be a fine player up there."
Aberghini also noted that Washington was under the gun to offer Wallace.
"Four of five schools came in late and were looking at film on him and were going to make a play for him," he said. "This just turned out to be a great opportunity for him and I think someone would have yanked him in the coming weeks if it hadn't happened today."
Alberghini also said that Washington was looking at Wallace to play an outside linebacker position and that he currently measures in at 6-0, 208 pounds.
Dawgman.com will be in touch with Jordan this evening to find out his thoughts on things.
