Redshirt freshman quarterback Jake Locker of Washington was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Monday. Washington running back Louis Rankin and center Juan Garcia were named to the All-Pac-10 second team. The award winners were selected by the Pac-10 head football coaches. | |||

Locker, a heralded redshirt freshman from Ferndale, Wash., was named the Huskies' starting quarterback prior to the season and had a spectacular freshman campaign. He ranked fourth in the Pac-10 in total offense at 254.0 yards per game. Locker passed for 2,062 yards and 14 touchdowns, but it was his rushing combined with those passing totals that made such a dynamic impact. Locker has established a modern Pac-10 record for most yards rushing in a season by a quarterback with 986 yards. That ranks him fifth overall in rushing in the Pac-10.
