Last weekend sucked. I
cannot believe that the Huskies lost the way they did. It
was very disappointing and a major setback in the Tyrone
Willingham era. A win against the Oregon Ducks would go a
long ways in restoring the faith I had in him and this
staff. I'm just afraid that it might be asking too much.
Oregon has some depth issues with a couple of major injuries
to key players, but they still have enough horsepower to
flatten the Huskies at home. Mike Bellotti's kids have
bought into a system that works for them, and Washington is
at a crossroads. They desperately need to rally now or yet
another season goes down the drain and Willingham will lose
this team for good.
Prediction: WASHINGTON 23 - Oregon 34

Which team will show
up on Saturday? If it's the team that showed up against
Oregon last time, there won't be many left in the stands by
the third quarter. If it's the team that showed up against
Boise State, there's hope.
I actually think Oregon could come in a little flat. If
Washington can jump on them early and make the home crowd a
factor, it could be fun day at Husky Stadium. I miss those
fun days on Montlake. At the end of the day on Saturday, I
think Oregon just has too much fire power. And it will be
another not-so-fun day for the Dawgs and for those of us
that cover the carnage.
Prediction: WASHINGTON 28 - OREGON 36

Just with the way
upsets have been happening in college football, and
especially in the Pac-10, this game is setting up as a
classic 'trap' game for the Ducks. The Huskies have shown
that they are capable of putting great first halves
together, only to squander their work in the second half. I
don't expect much differently Saturday, to be honest.
Oregon, even without Cam Colvin and Jeremiah Johnson, will
have enough firepower to spread things around and out-scheme
the Huskies. Washington's defense have just given up too
many big plays of late, and the Ducks will gash the Dawgs
for at least one or two 'momentum changers' that will give
UO the lead in the second half, and from there they should
be able to coast.
Prediction: WASHINGTON 21 - Oregon 42
Scott
Eklund, Columnist, RECORD: 3-3 (.500)
It's been a tough haul
the past four weeks for the Dawgs and things don't look to
get any easier this week with hated Oregon coming to Husky
Stadium for the first time in what seems like a decade. The
Huskies need a win and they need it quickly, but Oregon's
offense will probably overwhelm Washington's shaky defense
and the psyche of the offense will probably take another hit
as they try to play catch up in the second half. I see it
tied at halftime (what else is new?) and then the Ducks
pulling away and coasting in the second half.
Prediction: WASHINGTON 20 - Oregon 45

I predict the Huskies
will win the first half. by a score of 17-14. Anything
beyond that I refuse to participate in prognosticating. I
don't want to prove I know anything about football by saying
the Ducks will win. Heck, they already won when Phil Knight
gave them $100 million. I predict Washington will become an
Adidas team when this contract runs out because it's the
Nike curse that has brought this program down. That and the
damned "weasle" logo that they and Babs invented.
Prediction: WASHINGTON 17 - Oregon 14 at the
half

Finally Oregon is at
Husky Stadium. I sure hope we give um hell the 1st half.
This UW team has a knack of knocking some of the opponents
players out of the game. As long as it isn't anything
serious. I say rough up their tail feathers while we can!
So the halftime score might very well be UW 17, Oregon 14.
Then during halftime we fans will all begin to wonder, or
should that be worry, if the horror show will be replayed.
Wouldn't it be nice for a change that this will the week the
show will be preempted? I know what some of you are
thinking. Shhhh. Yet I wouldn't be true to my realist side
either if I really expected a win. I sure hope for one. I
just fear the monster will rear its ugly head again. Then
the chances that UW pulls off a victory are very slim
unfortunately. ):

I would sooner try to
touch the moon than pick the Huskies to beat the Ducks. The
ongoing argument with an Oregon friend of mine this week is
whether he will spot me 46 points or 46.5 points on this
Saturday's game.

I'm going to make this
short because every word hurts when you have you predict
another man-handling of the Dawgs, especially to Oregon
(Afflack!). Expect the Ducks to score often behind senior
quarterback Dennis Dixon and junior running back Jonathan Stewart, and to limit the Dawgs to three-and-outs all game
long. Carl Bonnell will see the field in this one folks.
