Stewart Twins to Washington
G Lodrick Stewart

It was supposed to be a much-anticipated announcement on Fox Sports Northwest tonight, but the cat was let out of the bag a little early. Sandy Ringer of the Seattle Times is reporting that Lodrick and Rodrick Stewart, the much-heralded twins from Rainier Beach are going to play basketball for the University of Washington. The USC Trojans were the other prominent school involved in the Stewarts' recruitment.
"They like to run up and down the court, like we do in high school," Lodrick said in Ringer's piece, featured in the Sunday edition of the Times. "That's how we've been playing since we've been in the seventh grade. Plus, I want to stay home and be with my little brothers." Nate Robinson, a current true freshman with the Washington football team, played at Beach with the twins last year, helping the Vikings to the 3A state hoops title.
"It's been a tough situation, back and forth," Andrew "Bull" Stewart, the twins' father, told Ringer. "Early on, it was USC 70 percent. Then we talked with Coach Romar every day, and he became not only a coach but a friend. My boys really want to stay home. They really don't want to go to California."
When reached by Dawgman.com for confirmation this morning, Bull Stewart declined to say whether or not the report was accurate, saying that his sons will announce their intentions this evening on Fox Sports Northwest and then would be available for comment on Monday.
The 6-3 combo guards are two of the more explosive players in the country. Rodrick is expected to play point guard this season for Rainier Beach with Lodrick at shooting guard. Rodrick led the West to the bronze medal at the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival this summer. While playing some PG, the right-hander scored 25 points per game. He shot 50 percent from the field.
