Rudinski Has Washington In The Lead

After visiting Washington recently, Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Ca.) LB Eddie Rudinksi tells Dawgman.com that he has the Huskies at the top of his list of suitors...

"They (Washington) are the leader," Rudinski told Dawgman.com. "When I went up there, it was a really great visit. I had a great time. There was nothing that you could complain about.

"From the city, I loved Seattle, to the school and the campus and the facilities and the stadium. It was awesome. I loved it there."

While he was on campus, Rudinski took the chance to work out for the coaches while the Rising Stars camp was taking place.

"I worked out in the morning with the linebackers and had a lot of fun getting out there and competing with those guys," Rudinski noted.

He also got a chance to spend some time with the Husky coaches.

"I talked mostly with coach (Bob) Gregory, who would be my position coach if I go there and I got to talk to coach (Chris) Petersen too," Rudinski noted. "He's a really great coach and I think one of the most impressive things, for both me and my mom (who came on the visit with him), was that he wasn't just about football. He cares about the whole person -- as a player, as a student and just as a man -- and that really stood out to us.

"Overall it was just a great visit. I had a great time and I feel like it would be a great school to attend and to be part of the program."

So, how close is he to deciding?

"I'm not ready yet because I want to just sorta take my time and see what happens (as far as other offers are concerned)," Rudinski said. "I went up to UCLA and USC and camped at those schools and I had good days there too.

"Obviously, with them so close to home, that would be a great option for me, but that won't be what determines where I wind up.

"I want to make sure I fit in with the school that I choose and that it feels right. I like the staffs that make me feel like I am part of the family and I also need to have a comfort level with the program and stuff like that.

"There's a lot of things to consider. It won't just be one things. It will be everything."

Rudinski currently holds offers from Cal Poly, Colorado, Idaho, Montana State, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah State, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State, Wyoming and Yale and he thinks that Vanderbilt could be very close to offering as well.

As a junior last fall, Rudinski posted 23 tackles and an interception while playing in eight games.

He said pretty much every program is looking at him as an outside linebacker, but he's open to playing anywhere that the coaches think he can help his team out the most.

We will have more on Rudinski and his progress as he gets closer to setting up his official visits and we will update news on him as it happens.
