How did you announce? - "I just announced it for everybody on Twitter…but I made my decision with my family and coaches and stuff a while back, probably a week ago or something like that."

Who did you tell from Washington? - "They knew they had the best chance with me so they all knew I was going there."

What was their reaction? - "They were like, it's all business now. They are happy, they are waiting for me to get there. I've still got another high school season to prepare and get stronger and better. I know they are excited, I'm real excited too."

What were a couple things that sold Washington for you? - "I told Washington, because first off - it's in my home town, Seattle, Washington. And I just love Seattle a lot, all the good people around me and stuff. I got opinions from a lot of the former players and alumni that went there and they said nothing but good things about the school and nothing but good things about the basketball and program and the coaching staff, how Romar changes his players into better men after college and stuff."

How big was the local hoops community aspect when choosing Washington? - "Probably when I was playing with my high school, Rainier Beach, me and David Crisp and Djuan Piper - we were all like, we knew we wanted to go there and be the next trio to go there. Who was the most recent player to go to U-Dub? Was it Isaiah Thomas?"

Probably Tony (Wroten) - "It was Tone. It was Tony Wroten. I just wanted to put on for my city and stuff and get the Huskies back to the winning program that they were, getting to the tournament. That's all I really want to do."

Anyone in the community you really look up to? - "Yeah, Jamal Crawford, that's like my big brother. He made sure everything is good with me, checks up on me all the time. Before he plays he's always telling me to always go out and play your game. He's a good role model to look up to?"

Who is happiest about this? Your Mom, coach Romar, or David Crisp? - "I don't know. David is probably trying to call me but my Mom - she's really excited because where I came from, all the way from the bottom with our struggles and stuff…a lot of people were doubting me. My Mom's real happy, all smiles."

What about playing with Marquese Chriss? - "Yeah, Marquese is a good basketball player. I love his game, I love him as a person. He's a real nice dude. We were roommates this past weekend at the Pangos All-American Camp and he was always around me, telling me to go to U-Dub and stuff. He's a real good dude."

Any message for Husky fans? - "I'm going to make sure we make the tournament."
