Huskies Get Their Man (UPDATED)

Folsom (Ca.) QB Jake Browning, rated the seventh-best quarterback in the 2015 class by Scout.com, made the decision to become a Husky on Monday and spoke with Dawgman.com about why he moved his decision-date up as well as why Washington was the right fit for him...

"The coaching staff was a big reason for me. I just felt like I fit in real well with what they were looking for from their quarterback and I really like coach (Chris) Petersen and coach (Jonathan) Smith a lot," Browning told Dawgman.com. "I also think it's an amazing university and I loved the city of Seattle a lot. It's a place I could see myself living in after school is over."

Browning had initially been adamant about making his decision on April 11th, but said he just felt like it was the right time to make his decision.

"When you know what you want to do, you just do it and get it over with," Browning said. "I took my visits and saw the schools I wanted to see and I just felt like Washington was the right place and I knew I wanted to get it done so I could focus on my senior season."

Also on his mind was the fact that he plans to graduate early and wants to enroll at Washington in January.

"Getting my decision out of the way helps me turn the focus to making sure I have the right classes so I can finish up and get up there after I graduate in December," Browning noted.

Browning, who had offers from Alabama, Boise State, California, Washington State, Utah and Colorado, threw for a Northern California record 5,248 yards and 63 touchdowns as a sophomore to just 16 interceptions in 2012 for Folsom (Calif.) and was named a Sophomore All-American.

He followed that up in 2013 throwing for a California state single-season record 75 TDs and passing for 5,737 yards while being named All-NorCal Player of Year, Metro Player of Year by the Sacramento Bee, Gatorade State Player of Year and Maxpreps National Junior Player of the Year and California Division I State Player of the Year.

He is the third pledge to Washington's 2015 class joining Myles Gaskin and Trey Adams on the Huskies' commit list.
