Road Woes continue
Posted Feb 7, 2014

Salt Lake City, Ut – Utah went on a 13-0 run halfway through the second half to pull away from the visiting Washington Huskies 78-69. Washington went scoreless for over five minutes during that stretch that decided the game.

Utah’s Brandon Taylor scored 20 points, including a decisive three-pointer to quell a Husky comeback in the final two minutes. Delon Wright added 19, to help the Utes stop a three-game losing streak.

C.J. Wilcox had 20 points in his home state, but it wasn’t enough. Nigel-Williams Goss added 19 but had two big turnovers in the second half that hurt the Huskies. Desmond Simmons earned his first start of the season and delivered 14 points, a career high for the junior.

Andrew Andrews missed his first 10 shots from the field, scoring for the only time on a lay-in on a steal. It was one of his rougher outings as a Husky. Blackwell and Kemp struggled inside, only combining for 10 points, and Anderson had some costly turnovers.

It was a sloppy game, as Utah had 17 turnovers and the Huskies had six turnovers during that second half stretch where the game was decided. Washington led 51-49 until Utah shut the door and pulled away.

The Huskies continued their road woes where they have won just one Pac-12 game, their first of the season. This came on the heels of a terrible loss in Pullman.

The Huskies face Colorado on Sunday in Boulder.
