While most on the west coast were getting ready to call it a night late Tuesday, National Analyst Greg Biggins was getting the word from Corona (Calif.) Centennial Head Coach Matt Logan that one of his players, Jaylen Johnson, had verbally committed to Washington over offers from a number of Pac-12 schools, as well as official visits to Boise State, Oregon, and California.

And in one evening, the former prep Husky is expected to become a Husky in college. It wraps up an eventful Tuesday for Washington, as they gained Johnson's verbal commitment but lost tight end prospect Chase Blakley to Boise State.

“He’s a great player and an even better prospect,” Husky coach Matt Logan told Biggins in March when asked about Johnson's potential. “He’s super athletic and is perfect for that hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end position. He’s still learning how good he can be and hasn’t come close to scratching the surface of reaching his full potential yet.” has the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Johnson as the No. 7 defensive end in the west coast and No. 43 nationally, a three-star recruit. We'll have more from Johnson on Wednesday.
