Gardenhire Becomes A Dawg

Cabrillo (Long Beach, Ca.) DB Darren Gardenhire confirmed via text message to Dawgman.com that he has indeed chosen to commit to Washington...

Gardenhire had been committed to Washington State for less than a month, he committed the weekend before Thanksgiving, but when Washington decided to offer after head coach Chris Petersen made his move from Boise State to the Huskies, things changed.

Gardenhire can play corner or safety, but projects to the safety position once he arrives.

He finished the season with 97 tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The 6'1", 200-pounder chose the Huskies over offers from WSU, Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah.

Gardenhire will officially visit Washington in January.
