Lazarus excited to check out Huskies

LB Michael Lazarus

Berkeley (Calif.) linebacker Michael Lazarus will take his first official visit this weekend and said two schools are currently recruiting him the hardest right now.

Michael Lazarus is one of the top ‘backers in the West with the ability to play inside or outside in college. He has a great frame and it's possible he could even grow in to a defensive end down the road.

Lazarus was supposed to visit Wisconsin on an official visit two weeks ago but had to postpone it so his initial visit of the year will be this weekend instead.

"I'm going to Washington," Lazarus said. "I had a family conflict the weekend I was supposed to visit Wisconsin but hopefully I can re-schedule it for another time. I'm excited to visit Washington though, they have been coming after me very hard and I have a lot of interest.

"They actually haven't offered me yet but it sounds like they could offer on my visit. I would say Washington and Fresno State are the two schools pushing hardest for me right now. That's why an offer would be big for me and if I have a good trip, Washington is definitely going to be a school I'm going to consider seriously."

It wasn't that long ago that Arizona State was leading for Lazarus but the ‘backer said he's open to all options.

"ASU is still up there, I still want to visit but they're not recruiting me as hard as the other schools right now," Lazarus said. "I haven't heard from California much lately either, that was my first offer.

"Right now, my plan is to take a few visits and then I could be ready to make a commitment pretty soon here. There's a chance I could do on Christmas day but nothing is set in stone yet. I need to see these schools first and then I'll have a good idea of what I'll do."
