SEATTLE - Kaitlin Inglesby fired a three hitter and helped her own cause at the plate with a three…
#16 UW 2, #10 Oregon 1
Jones pinch ran for Lahners and raced around third to score for 2-1 when Suguro lined a single to right. The Huskies had runners at first and third and a chance to add some insurance but right fielder Samantha Pappas made a nice running catch on a fly ball by Jennie McNeill that looked like it might drop in for a hit.
Oregon took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a home run by Kailee Cuico, a towering fly ball over the wall in left center, on an 0-2 pitch from Bryana Walker. The Ducks had a chance for more as they loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter and only one out, but Kaitlin Inglesby (11-4), who relieved Walker in the circle, struck out Danica Mercado swinging and got leadoff batter Janie Takeda to ground into a fielder's choice putout at second to end the inning.
Inglesby helped the Huskies tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. She led off with a single and Fagaly followed with another base hit. With two outs Wright lined a single to center to score pinch runner Marki Creger-Zier to make it 1-1.
Inglesby earned the win with five and two thirds innings of scoreless relief. She allowed three hits but did not walk anyone and struck out three. In suffering the loss, Hawkins pitched two innings in relief of Jessica Moore. She allowed one run on four hits. She did not walk nor strike out a batter.
The Huskies (25-10) next return to action when they face UCLA on the road in a three gem series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 2 and a single game on Wednesday, April 3.
