Senior Bowl: Barner from Duck to Eagle?

Kenjon Barner

Oregon running back Kenjon Barner is in Mobile, Ala. this week to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl. He spoke with FOX Sports NEXT following practice and a long chat with the Philadelphia Eagles.

MOBILE, Ala. — Birds of a feather flock together and though Chip Kelly left his head coaching position at Oregon for Philadelphia it looks as though he is still plenty interested in his former Duck running back Kenjon Barner.

Following the first day of practice at the Senior Bowl, Barner was surrounded by the Eagles' scouts, hardly allowing time for anyone else to speak with him before the North squad loaded its busses.

"I'd love to join him," Barner said after practice. "But it was just a little small talk."

Barner to return to Oregon for his senior season and says there is no doubt that decision is helping his draft stock. "Without a doubt," he said. "I was able to get on the field a lot more and show guys what I can do throughout a whole season."

The Oregon product, who officially weighed in at 5-foot-9 and 188-pounds, said through the first day he had spoken to multiple NFL organizations including Houston, Green Bay, and Baltimore. "There's a lot of interactions," he said. "Just basic conversations and they ask questions like ‘have you been in trouble?'"

Light heartedly Barner admitted he's never been in trouble, "I've never failed a drug test, nothing," he said.

Barner is projected as a fourth or fifth round pick in this year's NFL draft.
