Washington’s resurgence in conference play has been remarkable, but now the Huskies return home to face a talented Colorado Buffaloes team at 8:30 p.m. PST. The game will be aired live on Pac-12 Northwest network.
Colorado
(11-5, 1-3), who was highly touted coming into the preseason, has had their ups and downs thus far. Despite solid wins over
Baylor
, Murray State and
Colorado State
, the Buffaloes have suffered losses to
Wyoming
,
Kansas
,
Arizona
,
Arizona State
and
UCLA
.
Projected for greatness,
Andre Roberson
has failed to completely take over the conference as was expected. Averaging just 10.9 points a game, the 6-foot-7 junior forward does grab 11.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks a contest. However, in Pac-12 play, he has only scored 5, 5, 9 and 11 points in the four games.
Picking up the slack in the scoring department is three players;
Askia Booker
,
Spencer Dinwiddie
and
Josh Scott
.
Booker, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, is leading the way with 14.9 points a game despite shooting just 40 percent from the field. In addition, the Los Angeles native is contributing 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals a game.
Also at guard, Dinwiddie, who is coming off of a 23 point outburst against UCLA, is averaging a very respectable 14.4 points a game on 46 percent shooting. The sophomore is also catering in 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals. With 1.7 fouls a game, the Woodland Hills, Calif. native will see a lot of court time tonight.
A highly rated local Colorado prospect, Scott is proving to be the real deal in his freshman season. At 6-foot-10, he is averaging 13.4 points a game on 54 percent shooting from the field, while pulling in a solid 6.1 boards.
At the helm of this young, talented squad is Tad Boyle. While not young at 50, the Colorado native has done well in turning around the Northern Colorado program and now the Buffaloes. In three seasons in Boulder, he has a 60-30 record with one NCAA appearance.
