ALAMO BOWL: Texas by the numbers

NO. 23 TEXAS is expected to bring a strong passing attack into the Alamo Bowl against No. 13 Oregon State. Their run game shows up well on paper, ranked No. 48 in the FBS. But there might be more to the story inside those numbers...

Texas has not fared well against good run stopping teams.

Oregon State's rush defense is ranked No. 28 in the nation (130.5 yards allowed). Two comparable teams in TCU (10, 103.92) and K-State (16, 119.17) held Texas under 100 yards in beating the Longhorns.

The two other Texas losses saw the Longhorns rush for 135 yards and 74 yards against West Virginia and Oklahoma, respectively. The total against West Virginia, 135 hashes, was accomplished with 39 carries.

Oregon State's defense ranks No. 32 nationally in total defense. They are No. 29 in rushing and No. 47 in passing defense.
