The Waiting Game

After meeting with athletic director Sandy Barbour on Sunday, no announcement has been made yet about the future of California head coach Jeff Tedford.

BERELEY, Calif. – California head coach Jeff Tedford met with athletic director Sandy Barbour on Sunday to determine his future, leaving the Golden Bears in a holding pattern until a decision is made.

However, that did not stop the coaching carousel from kicking into high gear elsewhere, with Tennessee firing head coach Derek Dooley after three seasons.

The Opening is the third in the SEC, with Kentucky having announced that Joker Phillips will not return, and John L. Smith on a one-year contract at Arkansas after the dismissal of Bobby Petrino in the offseason.

Cal's season ended Saturday with a 62-14 loss at Oregon State, finishing the year at 3-9, Tedford's worst campaign since taking over in 2002.
