OREGON STATE WRAPPED it up early against Cal and embattled coach Jeff Tedford, taking a 35-7 lead into halftime and continuing to pile it on in the second half.
Oregon State finished up with a 62-14 beatdown of Cal and it wasn't really that close.
Sean Mannion
passed for 325 yards and four touchdowns, and Oregon State took any suspense out of the game in the first half.
Markus Wheaton
had seven catches for 99 yards for the Beavers (8-2, 6-2 Pac-12), who improved to 5-0 at Reser Stadium and will face Oregon (No. 2 BCS, No. 1 AP) in the Civil War next weekend.
Starting running back
Storm Woods
unofficially rushed for 64 hashes on 11 carries before, with a big lead, yielding to Terron Woods, who proceeded to gallop for 128 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Beavers rack up 559 yards of offense. Woods had 14 carries on the night.
An early mistake-filled first quarter, by both teams, saw a 7-7 tie at the 6:30 mark but the Beavs took control after that, pushing the advantage to 49-7 before the Golden Bears could answer a scoring drive.
OSU took control with a
Tyler Anderson
1-yard plunge to take a 14-7 lead. A 48-yard up-for-grabs strike to
Brandin Cooks
pushed the margin to 21-7 and the rout was on.
Connor Hamlett
,
Micah Hatfield
, Woods and Ward all scored in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.
OSU scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard Ward run and an 8-yard pass from
Richie Harrington
to
Malcolm Agnew
.
