Oregon too much for the Dawgs

Washington's defense made a valiant effort, but were just no match for Oregon's offense on Saturday at Autzen, allowing the Ducks to run up over 500 yards of offense to get a relatively easy 53-16 win.

Until today's game, Oregon hadn't been held scoreless in a quarter and hadn't failed to score on their first possession of any game all season, but the Huskies were able to hold the Ducks to punts on their first two drives and didn't allow a score until there was 13:22 left in the second quarter.

Oregon QB Darron Thomas and RB LaMichael James were the two stalwarts for the Ducks offensively

Thomas, a sophomore, passed for 243 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 89 yards and two more scores and James added 131 yards and three touchdowns as well.

Oregon's special teams were also outstanding getting an 80-yard kickoff return from Josh Huff to set up one touchdown and a 69-yard punt return from CB Cliff Harris.

Husky QB Keith Price, making the start in place of an injured Jake Locker, looked rather poised on the day completing 14 of 28 for 127 yards with one touchdown and another that was called back due to an illegal formation.

RB Chris Polk had a solid day against an underrated Oregon defense, rushing for 77 yards while freshman Jesse Callier totaled 54 yards.

The wide receivers for Washington struggled at times, dropping some passes on third downs that could have extended drives, but Devin Aguilar had 71 yards on five receptions while D'Andre Goodwin hauled in three passes for 44 yards and a 17 yard touchdown.

The Ducks managed to total 522 yards of offense, 243 through the air and 279 on the ground, while the Huskies only managed 263 yards (127 passing and 136 rushing).

Washington, now 3-6 and on the brink of bowl elimination, will take next week off before hosting UCLA on November 18th in a game that will be televised on ESPN.
